Teaching Tip for March

Group Investigation

This approach comes from the social model of learning that is based on John Dewey’s educational theories. It encourages cooperative inquiry and group learning. To use this approach, have students form small groups and work toward accomplishing a shared goal. For this lesson (March 31), the goal might be to design a calendar that facilitates more family time. Another goal might be to plan and present a seminar to the rest of the group or the church on how to improve family communications. The possibilities are endless. The point is to facilitate students learning in community.
